Human Resources is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AARP enterprise-wide human resource strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and related systems. This includes employee compensation and benefits, organization design and integration, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.

Responsibilities
- Assist with facilitating communication between employees and/or management
- Support addressing employee concerns and workplace conflicts
- Contribute to change management initiatives and employee listening strategy
- Assist with preparing and reviewing documentation for disciplinary actions and performance issues
- Track and report on workplace trends to foster a positive and inclusive work environment
- Support the implementation and review of HR Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Assist in reviewing organizational structures and processes to identify opportunities for improved business unit/departmental design, efficiency, and effectiveness
- Help with facilitation planning and assist with employee engagement activities
- Participate in and support HR projects, initiatives, and events
- May conduct research on HR-related topics and present findings to HR team members
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university as an undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
- Preference given to graduate or postdoctoral students who are pursuing studies in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, or similar disciplines
- Have an eagerness to learn, collaborate, and contribute to various HR projects and initiatives
- Prior HR or office experience is strongly preferred but not required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion is essential
- Ability to demonstrate analytical skills and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
Compensation And Benefits
The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
