Position Overview:
We are seeking highly motivated Legal Interns for our upcoming internship term. This internship is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in immigration law and litigation. Interns will work closely with attorneys on active cases and projects while learning the practical skills needed to excel in a legal career.
⚠️ Please Note: This is an unpaid internship.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and briefs for asylum and removal defense cases.
- Assist with preparing client declarations, witness statements, and country conditions reports.
- Participate in client intake interviews and consultations (under attorney supervision).
- Help develop legal strategies for individual hearings and asylum interviews.
- Review, organize, and prepare evidence for filings with EOIR and USCIS.
- Support attorneys in hearing preparation, including drafting cross-examination and direct-examination questions.
- Collaborate with fellow interns on group projects and case strategy assignments.
Qualifications:
- Current law student (1L, 2L, or 3L) or undergraduate student interested in law, human rights, or social justice.
- Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to immigrant rights and social justice advocacy.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, or other languages) are a plus but not required.
