Job Title: Legal – 2026 Summer Internship
Location: New York City
Duration: 8 weeks (Monday June 8th to Friday July 31)
Pay Rate: $20 per hour
Department / Team Summary:
The Legal Department advises the business on a broad range of matters, including product development and design, sales, administration, cybersecurity, privacy, fraud mitigation, and governance. We work closely with compliance and other internal teams to interpret regulatory requirements and help shape policy positions and strategy. The team reviews and drafts contracts and other legal documents to support business operations. We also manage interactions with federal and state regulators and other authorities, including assisting with examinations and preparing regulatory filings.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with and be mentored by senior and junior members of our team
- Work with members of the legal and compliance team in managing insurance and securities regulatory matters for the company and its subsidiaries
- Respond to ad-hoc analysis and queries from the business
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on issues related to: SEC regulatory developments, insurance regulation, privacy, cybersecurity, corporate governance, and employment law.
Required Qualifications:
- Only accepting rising Sophomores (grad year May 2029) and rising Juniors (grad year May 2028).
- Must have a minimum overall 3.4 GPA.
- Must be able to commute to NYC 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday)
Role Summary:
Mutual of America’s Summer Internship Program provides college students with hands-on corporate experience working with meaningful projects and assignments. Throughout the 8-week program, interns will not only have direct guidance from experienced leaders in their assigned departments but can have the opportunity to attend training classes and planned events with other interns.
