The Summer Associate will have the opportunity to learn about the financial services sector, public affairs, compliance programs, the current political and regulatory environments, and get hands-on experience with startup founders, practitioners, and regulators. We are looking for students who are strong communicators, both written and oral, with a strong focus on research and analysis. You will be expected to help support the team across ongoing client work and help organize various initiatives.
Summer Associate positions at FS Vector require a commitment of three months, starting from June 1, 2026, to August 31, 2026 (note: we can be flexible on specific start and end dates but are looking for individuals who can make a 12 week commitment). The anticipated work hours are from Monday to Friday, with an expected workload of 35 to 40 hours per week. Summer Associates at FS Vector are invited to work from our Washington, DC or New York office.
What are we looking for in a Summer Associate?
The Summer Associate should display an interest in financial services regulation as well as an interest in working with emerging technology companies. Candidates should also have an interest in gaining experience at an advisory firm that operates at the intersection of business and law but is not a law firm. Most importantly, we are looking for candidates who are creative, motivated, and who possess a high level of intellectual curiosity. Our Summer Associate provides significant support to the work that we do and learn what it’s like to work in a fun, fast-paced, and challenging environment. A successful candidate is a high-achieving leader with intellectual curiosity and an interest in financial regulation.
The Advisory Team:
The Summer Associate will work with our Advisory Team that advises fintech and other financial services clients on, for example, compliance with applicable regulations, including licensing requirements, financial crimes compliance, and fair lending laws, among others. The Summer Associate will work on client matters across the fintech community, including payments, neobanks, blockchain, wealth management, and lending.
Qualifications:
- Law student with an interest in financial services regulation.
- Preference given to those with previous internship experience at a financial services regulatory agency, trade association, Congress, or law firm’s financial services practice.
- Experience conducting research and performing analysis, writing and distilling complex ideas and concepts into a digestible format.
- Familiarity with financial services, including the relevant regulatory environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as a member of a team.
- Problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple, competing priorities.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
