Overview
J Kelley Law Group is a fast-growing, community-focused law firm that provides high-quality legal services in immigration, family law, and personal injury. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in a busy law firm setting. The ideal candidate will assist with various legal tasks, including research, document review, and drafting, while gaining exposure to real-world legal practices.
Duties
- Assisting with scanning, copying, and printing documents.
- Organizing and preparing legal packets for mailing.
- Handling outgoing and incoming mail.
- Helping with administrative and clerical tasks.
- Supporting case preparation and file organization.
- Assisting with technology-based tasks (document management, online filing systems, etc.).
- Having the opportunity to attend court hearings with the attorney to gain real-world experience.
- Assist in the drafting legal documents and correspondence.
Skills
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) – this is a must; the majority of our clients are Spanish-speaking.
- Strong computer and technology skills; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as with a team.
- Professional demeanor and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Interest in law, immigration, or related fields preferred (but prior legal experience is not required).
- Strong research skills with proficiency in legal research databases such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for success in this role. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment while contributing to meaningful work within our legal team.
