This internship is designed for law students and recent law school graduates interested in fact‑gathering, legal research, and analysis of issues encountered by a medical device company. Ideal candidates are passionate about supporting businesses that develop life‑saving medical devices and services for at‑risk patients.
The Legal Intern will be assigned to a Team Manager and a mentor but may collaborate directly with other members of the Legal Department as well as crossfunctional partners. Work will be handson and may contribute meaningfully to active projects.
By the end of the internship, the Legal Intern will gain a clear understanding of how the intern’s studies translate into practical, real‑world work within a corporate legal department in the medical device industry.
This is a part-time summer internship supporting the Legal Department at Kestra.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct fact gathering, legal research, and analysis on matters involving ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), regulatory, privacy, and corporate compliance, licensure related to governmental medical benefit programs (payors), and intellectual property.
- Collaboration & Project Support: Work closely with Legal Department team members to understand project goals, scope, and expected deliverables. Assist team members with tasks that support ongoing legal and business initiatives.
- Execution of Assignments: Approach assignments with creativity, initiative, and strong analytical skills. Provide periodic progress updates and maintain proper citation of all information sources.
- Final Presentation: At the conclusion of the internship, prepare and present key findings, learnings, and recommendations to the Legal Team and Kestra Executive Leadership.

Qualifications
Education/Experience Required:
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited Law School
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Indoor open office environment
- Minimal noise volume typical to an office environment
- Extended/overtime hours when needed
- Kestra manufactures and provides life-saving products regulated by the Federal Food and Drug Administration and under contract with Medicare. Kestra maintains a drug free workplace and testing is a condition of employment.
INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY
- Must be enrolled in an accredited Law School taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from an accredited Law School within the past 3 months
- Must not have completed one year of continual employment with Kestra Medical Technologies
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess unrestricted work authorization
- Must complete a criminal and employment background screening that meets the allowable FDA requirements and is in accordance with EEOC rules and regulations
- Must complete a pre-internship drug screen
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers, such as keyboard and mouse usage
