MGW Law is seeking a motivated Summer Law Clerk to join our litigation team. This position is ideal for current law students interested in civil litigation who want hands-on, real-world experience working directly with attorneys and clients in a fast-paced plaintiff-side practice.
This is not a “watch from the sidelines” clerkship—you’ll be involved, challenged, and mentored.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on substantive legal issues
- Assist attorneys with pleadings, motions, discovery, and case strategy
- Draft correspondence, discovery responses, and initial motion drafts
- Review and summarize medical records, depositions, and claim files
- Assist with trial preparation and case organization
- Observe and assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances when possible
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, staff, and occasionally clients under supervision
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school (1L, 2L, or 3L)
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
- Interest in civil litigation and plaintiff-side advocacy
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Professional judgment, initiative, and a willingness to learn
