Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Housing Program Compliance Intern.
Virginia Housing’s Community Outreach Division is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to join our Housing Choice Voucher Team (HCVP) team. This important role will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in compliance, auditing, reporting, and program management within a federally funded housing program. You will work closely with the Housing Choice Voucher Compliance Team to ensure program integrity and operational excellence.

This is a paid internship that will run from July 2026 to June 2027. We gladly accept undergraduate students, graduate students, trade school students, individuals exiting the military, military spouses, and career-transitioning professionals.
To be successful in this role you must have:
- High school diploma or GED.
- A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Social Work, Business Administration, Political Science, Criminal Justice or related study.
- Some experience working in a professional setting.
- Experience in data analysis, public policy, or regulatory compliance preferred.
- Interest and passion for working in public service.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
This is a hybrid (in-person & remote) position reporting to our Richmond VA office.
Interns can work up to 20 hours per week (September-May) and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer months (June -August).
