An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching. Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location. Compensation Minimum: $25.00 Compensation Maximum: $39.00 As our law student intern, you will work on many aspects of new and ongoing cases, such as research and writing memoranda, motions, and briefs on multiple substantive legal topics for Arizona, Nevada, Utah and California. Also, there will be many opportunities to attend and provide input at depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and court hearings. You will report to a Litigation Attorney.
Primary Accountabilities
- You will have an opportunity to attend various legal proceeding.
- You may help to draft documents for hearings, mediations/settlement conferences, trial, and may assist with the attorney in trial, if possible.
- You perform complex legal research and analysis within specified deadlines; proficiency with Westlaw encouraged.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
- Must be currently seeking a law degree and be enrolled in an ABA accredited university on a full-time basis or as required by the university's co-op program.
- Must have completed first year (1L) of law school before beginning the first work term.
- Prior experience in the legal field with a law firm is a plus.
