Position Summary
JumpStart is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to support our Government Relations team. This role is ideal for a current third-year (3L) law student seeking hands-on experience in a mission-driven, fast-paced nonprofit environment.
The Legal Intern will work closely with the Head of Government Relations on a range of projects related to contracts, research, and compliance—gaining valuable exposure to real-world legal operations in the nonprofit and venture development space.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Review: Review, summarize, and edit commercial contracts, including service agreements and vendor contracts.
- Legal Research: Conduct targeted legal research on topics relevant to JumpStart’s operations and partnerships.
- Special Projects: Assist with due diligence, policy review, and other transactional matters as assigned.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with internal departments to support risk management and organizational compliance.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school and in your third year (3L) of study.
- Strong academic performance and interest in commercial, nonprofit, or corporate law.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of contract principles and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple assignments.
Internship Details
- Duration: 3–6 months
- Schedule: 5–10 hours per week (flexible with academic commitments)
- Location: On-site in Cleveland, OH
- Compensation: Paid internship; rate commensurate with experience
