The Opportunity
This position will gain hands-on experience within an in-house legal department with specific focus on the following areas of law: contracting, intellectual property, and civil litigation. Internship would be Fall term with the opportunity for extension into the Spring.
Responsibilities
· Reads, reviews, analyzes, and tags existing contractual agreements.
· Updates records and maintains compliance with record retention policies.
· Examines existing trademark filings under applicable filing and maintenance policies.
· Compiles information requested via subpoena or government inquiry.
· Seeks advice when needed and implements it effectively.
· Performs administrative duties as necessary.
Qualifications
· Interest in pursuing a career in the law.
· Enrolled undergraduate student.
· 50+ credit hours of undergraduate degree completed.
· GPA of 3.0+.
· Highly organized, outgoing, and detail oriented.
· Ability to handle large amounts of paperwork.
· Clear, concise, logical writing style.
· Motivated and able to work on a variety of projects, both collaboratively and independently.
· Ability to work 15-20 hours per week.
· Ability to be in office 5-10 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in transactional law.
- Business-related major.
- Experience in or around automotive maintenance.
- Experience in retail industry.
- Data input and document review experience.
- Ability to be in office Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
