Position: Human Resources Intern - Fall 2025
Location: Bronx Zoo
Department: Human Resources
Schedule: late September- December; approx 10-12 weeks 12-20 hours per week
Stipend: $480-$960 total stipend amount to be paid as one lump sum upon completion of the position, less applicable taxes.

The Opportunity:
This internship within the HR Operations team of WCS Human Resources offers you the chance to gain hands-on experience in HR Operations, with a strong focus on data management, reporting, and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Under the guidance of an experienced HR professional, interns will learn about key operational processes that keep HR running efficiently across our organization.
Learning Outcomes:
- Interns will learn best practices in HR data management, including collecting, validating, and maintaining accurate employee information across HR systems.
- Interns will learn to use HRIS platforms and reporting tools to track key workforce metrics (e.g., headcount, turnover, demographics, benefits participation, performance data).
- Interns will observe and participate in improvements and system updates, contributing to projects that enhance efficiency and accuracy in HR operations.
- Interns will develop knowledge of best practices in HR operations, reporting, and systems management that underpin strategic HR decision-making.
- Interns will participate in professional development sessions, shadowing opportunities, and team discussions to build essential HR and data analysis skills.
- Interns will summarize their learning at the conclusion of the internship and complete required documentation for academic credit.
Qualification Requirements
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in human capital management, HR management, data analysis, business administration, I/O psychology, or a related field
- Able to receive academic credit for this internship
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Interest in human resources, talent management, learning and development, human resources information systems, human resources operations, and/or employee benefits
- Must complete a background screening if accepted (provided by WCS)
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
- Data analysis & interpretation
- Interest in being a part of a global conservation non-profit
