The Harding Firm – Legal Internship
(Unpaid – Opportunity for Paid Position After 90 Days)
Location: Mesa, Arizona (remote transition in progress)
Overview:
This internship offers hands-on legal experience in both family and criminal law. Interns will provide daily support to attorneys, assist with case preparation, and lead the firm’s social media presence. This is an unpaid position for the first 90 days, with the potential to transition into a paid role based on performance and initiative.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the firm’s social media strategy and content creation to promote consistent branding and audience engagement.
- Draft initial pleadings, discovery responses, subpoenas, motions, orders, and other legal documents for attorney review.
- Assist with both family law and criminal law matters, including case file preparation, court document drafting, and legal research.
- Review and summarize discovery documents independently.
- Complete family law forms accurately, such as financial affidavits and child support worksheets.
- Manage incoming/outgoing mail, deliveries to courts, attorneys, and service processors.
- Schedule and calendar court dates, deadlines, and appointments.
- Professionally screen and route phone calls; assist with client communication.
Expectations:
- Present professionally and interact with clients in a polished, articulate manner.
- Exhibit strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Manage a high-volume workload under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving: for every issue, present at least two potential solutions.
- Think independently while thriving in a team-oriented environment.
Recommended Experience:
- High school diploma required, college coursework or degree in legal studies, communications, or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience managing or contributing to social media (professional, academic, or volunteer settings accepted).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word; basic understanding of legal concepts is a plus.
- Prior exposure to legal environments, especially in family or criminal law, is helpful but not required.
