Job Description:
The Flight Safety Data & Compliance Intern supports the Safety Department in analyzing flight data, identifying safety trends, and ensuring compliance with aviation safety standards. This role offers hands-on experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS), Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA), Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Facilities. This position will report directly to the Head of Flight Safety and will be monitored by the academy Flight Data Analyst. This role provides direct exposure to real-world aviation safety operations, allowing you to contribute to meaningful safety improvements while developing highly marketable skills in flight data analysis and compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in analyzing flight data (FOQA/FDM) to identify trends, exceedances, and risks.
- Support safety reporting, dashboards, and data visualization.
- Assist with ASAP case preparation and safety investigations.
- Participate in hazard identification and Safety Risk Assessments.
- Support compliance with FAA, ICAO, and internal SMS requirements.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and safety documentation.
- Maintain safety records and support flight safety reporting.
- Prepare summaries, briefings, and safety communications.
- Conducts flight safety audits.
Qualifications:
- Junior/Senior enrolled in Aviation, Safety, Data Analytics, or related program
- Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
- Solutions-driven, always seeking ways to turn a negative into a positive.
- Able to handle and respond to communication on multiple platforms in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment efficiently.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with SMS, FOQA/FDM, or FAA regulations
- Experience with data tools (Power BI, Tableau, Centrik, etc.)
- Strong interest in aviation safety and data analysis
- Analytical and detail oriented.
