As a Legal Assistant on the Legal team, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of the department and be responsible for ensuring legal processes run efficiently and accurately.
What you will do:
- Provide support to the Litigation Department in all areas, including but not limited to the drafting, preparation and filing of litigation and pre-litigation documents relating to all legal proceedings.
- Support tracking functions and special reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis through monitoring and synthesizing information.
- Assist with preparation of litigation files for Court proceedings
- Assist with creation and ongoing maintenance of electronic and hard copy case files.
- Assist with maintenance of the Court calendar in an effective, transparent, and prompt manner.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with preparation of requests for outsourced matters and legal queries to outside counsel.
- Assist with the preparation of warrants and communications with the Marshal’s office in connection with evictions.
- Assist with legal case timelines and write-ups as needed.
- Develop knowledge in electronic programs used in Litigation department such as Yardi, MRI, and Asana.
- Assist with special projects and requests as needed
What you should have:
- 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal; New York City Landlord/Tenant experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of the New York City Landlord/Tenant legal process, with a strong focus on Nonpayment and Holdover proceedings
- Experience with the warrant process, including preparation of warrant-related documentation
- Proficiency with eCourts and NYSCEF filing systems
- Experience working in a multi-family and/or high-volume building environment strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Yardi and/or MRI property management software preferred
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work independently
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage tenant interactions in person, by phone, and via email
- Doing any, or all of that, in a multi-family environment would be good too.

Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $30.00
