Akin is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers across offices in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. We are seeking a Firmwide Attorney Recruiting Assistant to join our Attorney Recruiting & Development team. This role reports to the Attorney Recruiting Manager and plays an integral part in supporting the firm’s attorney recruiting and development efforts.
The position may be based in the Washington, DC, New York, or Philadelphia office and offers hybrid work flexibility. The Attorney Recruiting Assistant will work closely with senior team members across all aspects of attorney recruiting and development, including the Summer Associate Program, law school recruiting, lateral attorney hiring, and associate and counsel professional development. This role offers meaningful exposure to firmwide initiatives, opportunities to collaborate across offices, and hands‑on experience within a fast‑paced, team‑oriented professional services environment. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering high‑quality service, supporting collaborative teamwork, and contributing to continuous improvement across recruiting programs.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Law Student Recruiting & Programs
- Provide administrative and logistical support for law student recruiting programs, including assistance during 1L and 2L recruiting seasons. Support interview scheduling, preparation of interviewer materials, and basic reporting.
- Assist with law student engagement activities and initiatives, including helping to organize and attend recruiting events as needed.
- Support firmwide summer associate programming, including scheduling, tracking attendance, preparing materials, and helping ensure consistency in processes across U.S. offices.
- Assist with fall and summer associate orientation and onboarding processes, including coordination of logistics and preparation of materials.
Lateral Recruiting Support
- Support the search firm agreement process for lateral recruiting, including tracking agreements and maintaining records.
- Assist with background check processes and conflicts clearances for law student and lateral hires, including initiating requests and monitoring completion.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives, with opportunities to work closely with senior members of the recruiting team.
Operational Support
- Maintain accurate records in the applicant tracking system, including data entry, document management, and status updates.
- Assist with maintaining the shared recruiting team portal, including uploading documents and ensuring materials remain current.
- Process and track recruiting‑related reimbursement expenses in accordance with firm guidelines.
- Provide administrative support for budget tracking, including assisting with data collection and reporting.
- Support the completion of external firm surveys, including data gathering and coordination with team members (e.g., Vault, American Lawyer, Chambers, NALP).
- Organize and maintain recruiting materials and promotional items for recruiting events and the summer program.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 0–2 years of relevant administrative, recruiting, or professional services experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with applicant tracking or HR systems (e.g., ViDesktop, Flo Recruit, Workday) a plus
- Professional, service‑oriented approach with the ability to build effective working relationships with attorneys and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, follow established procedures, and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrated discretion and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of client and firm information
- Demonstrated interest in professional growth and development within a recruiting, talent management, or legal professional services environment
The anticipated base salary range for this position in New York and Washington, DC is $60,000 to $63,000 The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.
