Position Summary:
The EquiTrust Internship Program provides students with a paid summer opportunity to gain real-world experience while contributing to meaningful projects that support the organization’s goals. Interns will apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting, working closely with experienced professionals and participating in day-to-day operations. Throughout the program, they will collaborate across departments, enhancing their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while developing industry-specific expertise. A key component of the internship is the capstone project, which allows interns to showcase their work and insights gained from their experience. Their contributions will help streamline processes, improve efficiency, and drive meaningful results aligned with EquiTrust’s mission and values. This program offers a valuable chance to build a professional network and gain practical skills that will support future career success.
How You'll Contribute:
As a Legal Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in corporate law, compliance, and governance. Working closely with the legal team, you will support research, contract review, and regulatory compliance efforts. This internship offers an opportunity to develop your legal expertise in a professional setting while collaborating across teams to achieve key business goals.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct legal research on insurance regulations, corporate law, and compliance requirements.
- Review agreements, including non-disclosure and vendor agreements.
- Assist in drafting legal memoranda and internal reports.
- Support the maintenance of contract templates and corporate governance initiatives.
- Help prepare materials for board and committee meetings.
- Draft and review board meeting minutes and consents.
- Attend legal and business meetings to gain exposure to corporate decision-making.
- Provide ad hoc support on special projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline legal processes and improve efficiency.
What You'll Bring:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school
- 1L student pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree
Experience:
- Academic coursework in legal research, writing, or related areas
- Prior legal or professional experience is helpful but not required

Compensation and Pay Philosophy:
The pay range for this role is $22.00 per hour. This reflects the expected compensation for the position at the time of posting. The final offer will be based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity, and may be higher or lower than the posted range.
