INTERN, CORPORATE SECURITY & NERC COMPLIANCE (La Crosse, WI)
Hourly Wage $18.00 | Anticipated start date of May 2026
The Corporate Security and NERC Compliance Intern will primarily support Dairyland’s corporate physical security operations, with secondary exposure to compliance activities. This role assists in maintaining the safety and security of Dairyland’s facilities, assets, and personnel by supporting access control, physical security systems, security assessments, and incident documentation. The intern will also gain introductory experience with NERC-related compliance processes and regulatory documentation. This position provides hands-on learning within a critical infrastructure security environment.
The Impact You Will Make in This Role:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Corporate Security
- Assist with day-to-day corporate security operations across multiple facilities.
- Support the management of security systems such as card access, video surveillance, and key control.
- Help with security projects and initiatives under the direction of the NERC Compliance and Security team.
- Conduct research on industry best practices, emergency security technologies, and threat trends.
NERC Compliance
- Assist NERC Compliance and Security Team and subject matter experts with organizing and maintaining documentation related to NERC Standards.
- Help update compliance documents including plans, processes, and procedures as requested.
- Participate in internal audits, assessments, and learning opportunities to better understand the regulatory environment.
General Responsibilities
- Prepare reports and other documentation to support NERC Compliance and Security activities.
- Participate in team meetings, industry meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform administrative, technical, or project-based tasks as assigned.
- Othe duties or special projects as request to support NERC Compliance and Security.
Your Experience and Expertise:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree and completion of one (1) or more years in a Criminal Justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, Information Systems, or Business program. Interest in critical infrastructure protection strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Ability to use or learn security technologies, software tools, and reporting systems.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and recordkeeping.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive security information.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with teams across various departments.

- Ability to travel locally to field sites as needed.
- Must be willing to comply with security protocols and safety requirements.
