Job Title: 1L First Generation Professional Fellowship
Department: Corporate & Capital Markets
Office: Boston, New York, or Washington, D.C.
We strive to be enterprising, respectful, inclusive, insightful, and tenacious in every aspect of our business, including our interactions with clients, colleagues, and the communities where we have a presence. We rely on these core values to serve clients in key practice areas and industries – the pillars of Brown Rudnick: crisis management, which includes restructuring, investigations, and special situations; global litigation; life sciences; technology; and brand and reputation management.
Summary
Brown Rudnick’s commitment to recruiting, developing and promoting a broad range of talented individuals is ingrained in the way we operate. To reflect that commitment, in 2018 we established the Brown Rudnick 1L First Generation Professional Fellowship program for first year law students who are the first in their family to graduate from a baccalaureate college.
The Fellowship provides the opportunity for a substantive work and professional development experience as well as a scholarship. The First Generation Professional Fellow will join our 2026 Summer Associate Program, spending their 1L summer working on a wide variety of matters as an integral member of client teams. Fellows are given tangible work assignments throughout the summer, and are invited to firm events, lectures, and trainings throughout their law school career.
For the 2026 Fellowship, we are seeking a Fellow to join our Finance Practice Group. This means you’ll be immersed in high-impact transactional work, researching cutting-edge finance issues, working on deal documents, and supporting closings for complex lending and capital markets deals. This is your chance to build technical skills, gain exposure to high-value transactions, and learn directly from attorneys who lead in the finance space.
2026 Summer Associates will be paid a biweekly salary equal to that of a first-year associate at the Firm (currently $215,000 annually). In addition to their summer associate compensation, Fellows are eligible to receive up to $30,000 in scholarship assistance.
Eligibility
The Fellowship is open to all first-year U.S. law students (set to graduate in May 2028) enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school who:
· Identify as a first generation professional;
· Have an established record of achievement(s); and
· Have demonstrated a commitment to civic involvement that promotes inclusion.
