Overview
Flomad Labs R&D is seeking a thoughtful and analytical Ethics & Legal Research Intern to support the exploration of ethical, legal, and policy issues surrounding AI and robotics. This role offers a unique opportunity to help ensure that innovation and integrity evolve hand-in-hand by contributing to research on global governance, ethical frameworks, and regulatory compliance for emerging technologies.
You’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, and product teams to embed ethical foresight into every stage of development - assessing social impact, aligning with international standards, and contributing to responsible innovation strategies. This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about tech ethics, human rights, AI governance, and the future of legal policy in technology.
Additionally, you will engage in continuous research and evaluation of emerging AI tools to enhance productivity, staying abreast of the latest technological advancements. This proactive approach ensures our team remains at the forefront of innovation, integrating cutting-edge solutions into our workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on ethical and legal issues related to AI, robotics, and autonomous systems, including data privacy, bias, accountability, and intellectual property
- Support the drafting of compliance documentation, internal ethics policies, and governance frameworks
- Monitor evolving regulations and global AI legislation to help guide project decisions
- Contribute to ethical risk assessments, identifying potential social and legal implications of emerging technologies
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate responsible innovation principles into workflows
- Assist in preparing reports, white papers, and summaries for internal and external audiences
- Participate in team discussions and workshops focused on ethics, compliance, and regulatory strategy
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong research and writing abilities with the capacity to analyze complex legal or ethical topics
- Familiarity with AI governance, data protection, or technology law is a plus
- Interest in public policy, ethics, or regulatory aspects of emerging technologies
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, and policy professionals
- Experience in policy analysis, legal documentation, or academic research is a plus
