Responsibilities
Grow Your Skills, Grow Your Potential
Mimi L. Smith & Associates, in-house counsel for State Farm, announces the Summer 2026 Intern Program for the Orlando, Florida, Claims Litigation Counsel office. Claims Litigation Counsel attorneys defend State Farm and its customers who have been sued. Summer interns work with attorneys on assigned projects, attend case events, and observe every phase of the litigation process. They benefit from mentoring throughout the summer, gain a balanced and realistic understanding of the function of Claims Litigation Counsel, and develop real-world civil litigation skills. This full-time internship runs from June 1, 2026, through August 7, 2026. The Summer Intern selected will also receive a $2,000 Intern Stipend. We work in a hybrid environment with some required presence in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.
Located in Orlando, Florida, we enjoy an active civil trial practice throughout Orange County and surrounding counties. We provide a congenial and team-oriented professional work environment with skilled support staff.
Qualifications
- 2L students currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school located in Florida. Intern must remain enrolled for the duration of the internship and have at least one additional term remaining following the internship.
- Strong academic credentials preferred.
- Strong research skills including familiarity with Lexis preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- This position requires the majority of time to be spent in office. Based on this requirement, we are seeking students from local law schools/law schools located in Florida.

Internship Details:
- Summer Internship Dates: 6/1/2026 - 8/7/2026
- Possible Fall/Spring Extension: successful internships may lead to offers for extension into Fall/Spring.
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week
- Due to the short duration of the summer program, it is an expectation that hired interns will be available for the duration of the summer internship with little to no disruption in the work schedule.
- Pay: $33/hour. In addition, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a $2,000 stipend!
- Work Arrangement: HYBRID - Selected interns should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment. Please note that relocation benefits will not apply.
