About Us:
Kids’ Voice of Indiana amplifies the voice of children and youth in the legal system to improve individual outcomes and inspire system wide advances. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organized Development and Special Events Intern to join our team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in both development and event planning within a dynamic nonprofit environment.
Role Overview:
The Development and Special Events Intern will assist with various aspects of fundraising and event planning, supporting our Development Team in achieving fundraising goals and enhancing community engagement through special events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in researching and identifying potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.
- Help with the preparation of donor communications, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and newsletters.
- Maintain and update donor records in the organization’s CRM system.
- Support the team in tracking fundraising goals and progress.
- Special Events Coordination:
- Contribute to the planning and execution of special events such as our Holiday Gift Drive, Spring 2026 Paint the Town Blue Child Abuse Prevention month campaign, and virtual events.
- Assist with event logistics, including venue arrangements, catering, and setup.
- Coordinate with vendors, manage contracts, and ensure event materials are prepared.
- Help with marketing and promotion efforts, including creating content for social media and event invitations.
- Provide general administrative support to the Development Team, including data entry and file management.
- Prepare reports and summaries related to development and event activities.
- Assist with day-to-day operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Event Planning, Communications, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional and personable when interacting with donors, vendors, and team members.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms. Experience with CRM systems and event management software is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in fundraising, event planning, or nonprofit work is advantageous but not required.
