Law&Crime - Summer 2025 Legal Intern

Law&Crime is a multi-platform media company, including a 24/7 network, website, and social media presence, all focused on legal and true crime content. Founded by ABC News’ Chief Legal Analyst, Dan Abrams, the company provides legal analysis, original crime stories, and high-profile criminal trial coverage. Law&Crime offers a unique blend of reporting, commentary, and analysis, providing a broad audience with insights into the legal system and highly followed cases.

Our ideal candidate is a current law student (incoming 2L & 3L preferred), 1) with a strong interest in entertainment and media and preferably, some experience in legal fact-checking/episode review in prior in-house position or entertainment law firm setting, and 2) ability to receive academic credit.

June 23, 2025 – August 25, 2025 (Tentative Term)

Responsibilities/Duties

Assistance in various transactional matters, including but not limited to the following:

o Contract negotiations, contract review, and contract drafting (pre-production/production agreements, distribution agreements, podcast agreements, employment agreements, vendor agreements, advertising agreements, license agreements, etc.)

o Script reviews of legal news content, bodycam/police pursuit footage, and other true crime related content

o Legal review of Law&Crime produced television programs and related materials prior to delivery to third-party network (episode fact check review, episode general legal review, audio/visual materials clearance review/intellectual property clearance, etc.)

o Drafting legal production deliverable materials, including Fair Use Memos and Licensing Agreements

Assistance in various litigation matters, including but not limited to the following:

o General legal research/caselaw research

o Drafting documents such as pleadings, motions, & discovery demands/requests

o Assistance with court conference and deposition preparation, under supervision of in-house legal team

Qualifications

o Must be able to receive credit from law school for the internship

o Proficient in legal research

o Strong writing skills

o Takes well to direction

o Some understanding of trademark & copyright Law

o Strong attention to detail

o Understands how to redline contracts

o Eagerness & enthusiasm to learn and receive constructive feedback
